  • Great word from Gary Harris, Influencers NWA Board Member:

How is your soul? I pray that it is well. To follow up on my previous email to invite you to the Influencers National Summit, I want to give you another reason to go. The theme of the summit is “All In” and I’m all in and there is more about this at the bottom of the email. Now to my question….

    What is your Legacy?
Have you thought about what your legacy will be? You better, as you may be closer to experiencing it than you think. I don’t mean to sound despairing, but as I see it, if you live long enough, you will die. That makes perfect sense, right? Don’t blame me, God has your days numbered. (Man’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed. Job 14:5)

So, what will be your legacy? Do you care? I hope so, because if you care I believe it will make a profound difference in how you live today. And I believe how you live today can influence others. Sure, some of you have larger spheres of influence, but all of us have the potential to greatly influence others and leave a legacy to be proud.

The truth of the matter is you will have a legacy. If you’re still breathing, you have an opportunity to change it, improve it or begin today to make it what you would like it to be.

There was a guy watching his 90 year old neighbor plant a small apple tree. He leaned over the fence admiring the work and in talking to the old guy said, “You don’t expect to live long enough to eat any apples from that tree do you”? The old man thought for a moment and replied, “No, but somebody will”.

The best time to plant an apple tree was 10 years ago, but the next best time is today. I believe it’s the same with building a legacy that our Lord looks upon one day and says, “Well done, my good and faithful servant”.

When I think of legacy, I think of it as brand protection: We each have a brand or brands to protect. Our name, character, reputation, equate to legacy for me. This is every bit as important as the brands we protect at work. We work hard to build and protect our brand. Our brand or legacy is what we will pass along to others.

I read this a while back and think its fits. (THE END by John Acuff)
Lately I’ve been thinking about a few simple things. Lately as the volume of things turned up, there’s a bit of a whisper that won’t leave me alone. Here’s what’s bouncing around my head:
If at the end of my life, the only thing I’ve accomplished is a comfortable life, my days have been wasted.
If at the end of my life, the only thing I’ve fought for is my own name, my days have been wasted.
If at the end of my life, the only thing I’ve cared about is my own care, my days have been wasted.
If at the end of my life, the only thing I’ve stood for is my own reputation, my days have been wasted.
If at the end of my life, the only thing I’ve traded are works for rewards, my days have been wasted.
May we not go to the grave quietly.
May we not make refuse of the gifts we’ve been given.
May we never chase the shiny in place of the holy, the trend instead of the truth, the immediate instead of the eternal.
Arrive empty to the grave, having given all you were given, stewarded all you were tasked with.
    Give the grave only bones.

We won’t leave a Godly legacy by accident. Come on men, let’s get after it! Let’s go to this summit.
