Influencers - Tulsa
The Tulsa Men of Christ began as an attempt to unite the Christian men of Tulsa. It was merely a growing network of men from all different church backgrounds. The desire was to keep these men informed of ministry opportunities in the area, as well as to engage them in prayer for each other as needs arose. We also hoped to rally the men to go to events like Promise Keepers as a way to help them in their spiritual growth.
However, there seemed a greater need. Over time, it became evident that most Christian men had faith and most men had been involved in Christian activities to some extent, but most men did not have an intimate, abiding relationship with Christ. Most men were not really "disciples" of Christ, and thus, very few were living out the Great Commission to "make disciples". You cannot give what you do not possess!
We were overjoyed when God brought the Influencers movement across our path! The Journey process seemed to be the "tool" we needed to help men find what they were missing. We began with one group of 15 men in 2006, from nearly every denomination, most of whom were leaders of men. They were intrigued about this Journey to Intimacy with Christ. It was a wonderful experience, and we soon realized this was inspired and anointed by God.
We are in our 7th generation of Journey Groups and over 500 men have now been exposed to the Journey process. We have seen life transformation which has impacted families, churches, businesses and communities in Tulsa. We also see a growing "community of believers" who are living life together, supporting each other and helping other men find the path.
