Journey 2.0 Explained

by Bryan Craig

Ever since Rocky and I did our Podcast on Journey 2.0, there has been a buzz of questions from guys in different regions.  So, let me help you all with some clarity.  Journey 2.0 is NOT to be confused with new curriculum, although we did just introduce Rocky’s new book, Abide, as well as a new Facilitator’s Guide.  And SPOILER ALERT!  Rocky has another new book coming out this Spring which will be part of our Journey curriculum.  This will be introduced at SOTO! Journey 2.0, albeit a bit tongue in cheek, is truly a real thing.  This is the next step for those who have gone through The Journey. Journey 2.0 is when a person helps guide a Journey group, showing another person how to have an intimate, abiding relationship with Christ. Think of Part One of The Journey to the Inner Chamber allegory, as Refugee becomes Learner and works his way down the banquet table until finally, he is ready to cross the threshold into the Inner Chamber.  He is ready to give his life to the Lord in “personal abandonment and absolute trust.”  The chamber doors closed.  He now understands an abiding relationship with Christ.  However, the story does not end there… The doors to the Inner Chamber began to open slowly.  I couldn’t believe my eyes.  Standing before me was a man in shining armor similar to Influencer.  I recognized him as Learner, but he had only a slight similarity to the man who entered God’s Kingdom.  The man who had entered God’s kingdom was replaced by a new one.  It was obvious that an amazing supernatural transformation had occurred in Learner’s life and that the Feast he had just partaken of had completed its work.  This new man now stood strong, confident and dangerous.  He was ready for battle.  (The Journey to the Inner Chamber, page 45) So, have you gone through The Journey and experienced a transformation like described here?  Do you feel a newfound strength and confidence and faith?  Do you sense that you are a warrior with a new perspective on life? If so, what is holding you back from helping others get to the Bridge, to the Banquet table and to the Inner Chamber?  We believe this is merely our way of living out Jesus’ Great Commission. Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”  Matthew 28:18-20 ESV Jesus is speaking to His disciples right before He ascended, after His resurrection, but He is also speaking to us: Go show others what you have found. Immerse them in God, in Jesus and in the Holy Spirit. Teach them all the things I’ve taught you. I (Jesus) will be with you every step of the way, to the end.   I believe there is no better way to do what Jesus asks of us than to lead a Journey group.  I believe if you were touched and transformed through The Journey because someone took time to invest in you, then you have a sacred responsibility to GO help someone else. This is Journey 2.0. As the name might indicate, it is an advancement on your Journey.  It is the next level of spirituality and depth of riches and understanding.  God has designed us, who have found Living Water, to be conduits for it to pour out to others.  As we do this, we are refreshed and blessed more than anyone.  As someone who has guided 15+ Journey groups, I tell you it’s true! Guys, Influencers is not about selling books or counting Journey groups, but we are about MAKING DISCIPLES, and God is using ordinary people and the Journey curriculum, to do this.  Pray about YOUR PART in Jesus’ plan and in the Harvest before us.  As the days get darker, the more people around us are going to be looking for Light.  We are the light of the world (Matt 5:14). Please pray about helping guide a Journey group and if God confirms it, talk to your former Journey Guide or your Regional Director about how to proceed.  We will help you and support you every step of the way.  Also pray about one or two others who you’d like to invite to co-guide with you.  Then, you can pray about people in your sphere of influence who you should invite.  These are people God’s counting on you to reach.  They are your assignment for the next Journey season. I look forward to hearing stories of how you stepped out of your comfort zone, faced your fears and inadequacies, trusted God and saw God deliver you the JOY OF JOURNEY 2.0. Be blessed.
