Day Two

Scripture: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." James 1:2-4 NIV
Thought: We will face trials in this life. It is a guarantee. God reveals this idea that we can have joy in the midst of trials. Our joy comes from the Spirit, for we know that Joy is one of the fruits of the Spirit. It also comes from knowing that God is doing something in our life to strengthen and develop our Faith. He wants to give us everything we need (2 Peter 1:3). So, rather than fight the pain, we should accept it and endure it and give praise to God.
He is developing Perseverance in us, just like a marathon runner. He wants us there for the long haul. He says this is necessary for us to become who He wants us to be, where our discipleship will be complete.
Application: So, where is God testing your faith right now? Look for the pain. Use your Journal and write down the areas in your life that are troubling you and causing pain. It might be a physical, emotional or mental torment of some sort. Or it might be a situation with someone close to you.
Write down as many of these pains that you can identify.
Now, ask the Lord what He is trying to teach you through each pain. Pause. Listen. Pause. Leave ample time to just sit still and listen for the answer. If you feel an answer come, write it down in your journal. If, after an extended time, you don't feel as if He is revealing an answer, it is okay. Remember what Paul said in 2 Corinthians 4:8...at times, we will be perplexed, but not in despair. Don't despair. The revelation of God's work waits an appointed time.
Response: Thank the Lord for His work in your life. Write down a prayer of thanksgiving in your journal, even if it is difficult to do. Tell Him that you trust Him, even if you do not understand His methods.
