Be Resolute

ACTION:  Resolve to make a heart change
At one time in my life, I was a football coach and then a businessman.  In many ways I am a life coach now for men, as I mentor them toward an intimate, abiding relationship with Christ.  In each example, I have known gifted men who seemed to have things come easily for them.  Some athletes could run and jump better than others, and some guys were scary smart in their ability to grasp complex strategies in problem solving.  At first blush, the outward appearances of these guys predicted a success waiting to happen.  But I have found by experience, if these men lack that hidden quality of heart and desire, those less gifted would pass them up, and it was those guys I wanted to team up with.  It is because of this experience I have concluded that the ability for a man to change and then to realize his greatest capabilities, through God's leadership, must start with his heart.  It is the inward renovation of a man's values and perspective, his inner being which is not seen by the world that causes him to see life differently and then reenter that life as a changed man.  So, how does a man change his heart?  He doesn't.  God changes his heart.  But the man must put himself before the King in such a way that God can change his heart.  It must become his highest priority, and this is where being resolute is required.
Consider that God will tear you down and remove all of those things that have created the shaky foundation your life has been built on, and then He will build a solid foundation that your life can be raised from there.  Trust Him.  He has a plan for you, and it is good.  Pray that He will change your heart.
"And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God. And I will deliver you from all your uncleanness. And I will summon the grain and make it abundant and lay no famine upon you."(Ezekiel 36:26-29 ESV)
