The Vision.... by Rocky Fleming

And then God answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait! And it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time.” Habakkuk 2:2-3 (The Message)

Forty years ago, I journaled the scripture above, and began to record the implications that it would have to my life.  A lot has happened since that time, clarifying the vison.  I was given a vague vision, maybe a divine insight, of what I’m doing now, and the man that I would one day be to respond to God’s beckoning call to be here.  There was a lot of processing of this man, a lot of breaking and remaking that he would go through until he would be ready for the call.  That’s the way the Lord often transforms us to use us for His purposes.  He forges us for duty.  It happens to His people, and it happens to ministries that He raises up to fulfill His purpose, such as Influencers.

God called Influencers over twenty years ago to be messengers of a sacred message that He entrusted to us to share.  It is a beckoning call to come close to Him.  It is to discover the depth of what He gives us and has purchased for us with an intimate relationship with our Creator.  This was my vision given to me years ago, though I didn’t know it at the time.  Early on as the vision unfolded God added other people to carry the message, reinforcing the vision would become a ministry.  Now, we are seeing the vision verified and being expanded.

You’ve likely heard and read that the leadership of influencers feels called by God to make a movie to expand our effort with making disciples.  We are praying that the movie will be a catalyst for the Body of Christ in America and the world, to draw God’s family back to Him to find the intimate relationship with Him that the Church longs for.  Some ask, “Why a movie?”  The answer is simple.  It is the most popular and preferred communication vehicle for younger generations.  They are more likely to watch a video than read a book.  They are more likely to listen to a podcast than a sermon.  I feel that God has instructed Influencers to go where they are and bring them to Him.  I think the Apostle Paul had the same perspective as we read what he said about it:

“To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.  I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.” 1 Corinthians 9: 22-23 (ESV)

I’m a writer.  I like to read.  I like people reading my literary works.  I prefer that they slow down and read every word and contemplate every phrase, for I put a lot into it.  Speed readers don’t do it for me.  But what matters the most to me is that the reader falls in love with the One who I love and Who loves me.  It is about the gospel.  That is what Paul was saying.  He said that he would adapt to any method and means to declare the gospel, for it was the love of Jesus to him that drove him.  It is what drives this ministry.  It is what drives me.  He loves us, and we will go to any means that will declare His love to others.

Right now, I believe the greatest need is to get this message across to the marginalized Christian.  They know of Him, but they don’t truly know Him.  They worship Him, but they worship Him from afar.  They attend church, but they are only attenders rather than passionate followers of the living Christ.  They swim in opportunity, for the harvest field is great.  But they are not laborers, which this harvest requires.  Jesus said to pray for laborers for the harvest, and Influencers has been given a vision to help with this process.  He gave us the vison, the plan and the method to raise up laborers.  This is why we are making a movie.  It is to make disciples.

Why is the marginalized Christian our target?  It is because these brothers and sisters have been hanging in there, waiting for more.  They haven’t left, for they instinctively know that God is coming to them, preparing them for something purposely and eternally significant. They are like the bride in waiting.  Their heart will awaken when they come close to their Bridegroom.  He is waiting.  We are the heralders.  We are blowing the trumpet.  We are announcing the King is coming.

When these believers are reached, they will become the laborers that Jesus told us to pray for.  They will be the ones who will be guides to take countless people through The Journey to fall in love with Jesus.  They will be the ones to serve nurturing love to the people they minister to, and our churches will be filled and grow and repeat the discipleship process in their towns and communities.  This will launch an awakening in the Body of Christ in this country, and the Church will declare the gospel as never before.  This is our vision.  This is the vision God has given to this ministry.  This is the vision that he has given to me.  It is His vision.  Would you join this vision?

I ask you to respond and simply tell us that you are in and want to join this vision.  We are recruiting those who have the same heart as we prepare to take this vision forward.  We will then begin assembling a labor pool for the harvest that will come out of the movie.  Know this.  It is only to God’s glory and His purpose that we do this.  To that end we serve His vision.
